Do you have a belly, pooch, tummy, muffin top or whatever you call it?Is it making you feel self- conscious? Don't worry, I can help you! Muffin top occurs when waistbands dig into parts of our bodies that are softer. Placing your waistband on a part of your torso that is less soft can work miracles. For most people, midsection spilling over the waistband is a sign that pants are either too small or in a style/cut that doesn’t suit their body shape. Go up a size on your jeans, try a different rise. If the rise of the jean is too low for your body it creates the muffin top that you don't want. So try a different rise like a mid-rise that hits your belly button or a high waisted, aka mom jeans a go. Remember as your trying on different jeans that size does not matter it's about the fit. Besides your jeans rise take a look at your underwear, are you wearing the correct size? Your pant size does not really correlate to undergarment size, I'm a size 10/12 and my underwear are large and x-large. Make sure your panties don't dig into you, consider trying a new underwear style if they do. Have about $200 to invest try this "Like a Glove" it's a Jean Fitting app. You put on a pair of leggings, open the app on your phone and let it do it's magic. It matches your measurements against jean measurements, then browse all the jean recommendations. The app and leggings go for $79.99 when on sale and a pair of recommended jean goes for about $100 and up. Like a Glove- Find jeans that fit.Now for what to wear on top - Show some skin and distract from your troubled area. Cold shoulder tops are great for that, a little peep of your shoulders is sexy. - Wear woven fabrics instead of knits which tend to cling to your body. Choose a fabric with movement like chiffon. - Tops with details like ruching and drape, pin-tucking, v-neck are excellent choices. - Empire, wrap tops and peplum tops are great too! - Choose a top that hits at your hips or just below. - Let your top skim your body. You don't want your tops too tight to expose unwanted areas and don't wear a bigger size that will just make you look wider and frumpy. - Try a fitted blazer or a long cardigan that hits around the hip area are also good to conceal the tummy area. DressesBelow are some examples of dresses to try on to help conceal that tummy. Look for some ruching, empire style, v-neck line, trapeze style, A-line and wrap dresses. You want your dresses to skim your body not be tight that you can see every detail. Add a third pieceWhat is a third piece, you wonder. Will it's a jacket, blazer, vest, cardigan anything that you put on top of your shirt, blouse or dress. A third piece does miracles, in this case, it will help conceal your sides that you might be self-conscious about. Consider your body type and know where that third piece should hit on your body. You don't want it to be too long it will make you look frumpy. Too short it will look like your wearing your daughter's jacket. See examples below. ShapewearIf you feel comfortable try some shapewear. They help control and smooth your body and make clothes look better. I love wearing my Jockey tank shapewear like the white one on the top row in the picture below. I have a white and black one, I bought them at Target for $19.99 each. On special occasions, I wear a high-waisted brief when I want my dress, skirt, trousers or jeans to look better. Spanxs make a lower cost shapewear for Target only called Assets. Try a shapewear and let me know how you like it! Thank you for coming to my blog where I like to share tips about style and beauty from my own knowledge and experiences. Remeber everybody is unique and has different challenges. What I say are merely guidelines, not style rules. Take what works for your body and disregard the rest. Hope you get inspired and wow people on your wardrobe ventures.
